Chamber Member Survey Results
Release Date: 4/19/2010
Would you be surprised to hear that nearly three-quarters of chamber members responding to a recent survey favor economic incentive programs?

The Alamance County Area Chamber of Commerce asked its members to weigh in on this and other issues that impact the business and economic climate in Alamance County. According to Mac Williams, Chamber President, “A part of the value of chamber membership is our advocacy efforts on behalf of local businesses. To help focus our efforts, we need to know what people think and where their interests are.”

To implement the survey, the chamber partnered with the Elon University Center of Public Opinion Polling. According to Chuck Green of AT&T and chair of the chamber’s Government Liaison Committee, “The Center assisted us with developing and distributing the survey as well as analyzing the results. It was a win-win for both parties. Developing the survey was a real world lab experience for students and we have benefitted from the Center’s polling expertise and capabilities.”

Thirty-six percent of the chamber membership responded to the survey, a very credible response rate. According to Hunter Bacot, Director of the Center of Public Opinion Polling, “The response is strong enough to consider it a consensus rather than a sample of the membership.”

The information will be used as a part of the chamber’s ongoing conversations with elected officials at the local, state and federal level.
