The Alamance Chamber’s delegation closing out a successful trip with a visit to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Connecting and learning from national leaders during the morning networking session.
Earlier this month, the Alamance Chamber proudly led a delegation of business and community leaders to Washington, D.C. for our Washington Fly-In. Over two days, we had the opportunity to champion the legislative priorities of the Alamance Chamber, connect directly with our elected officials, and gain valuable insights into federal policy that impacts our local economy.
The trip began with a networking breakfast, setting the tone for collaboration and shared purpose. From there, our group heard from Tom Wickham, Vice President & Managing Director of Government Affairs with the U.S. Chamber. He shared timely updates on pressing national issues that intersect with our community’s priorities. The group also had a presentation from Ben Tomchik with the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.

Our delegation then headed to Capitol Hill, where we had the honor of meeting with Congressman Richard Hudson. This conversation allowed us to share how federal policy can better support Alamance County’s business climate, workforce needs, and infrastructure priorities.
Following a group lunch, we met with Senator Thom Tillis’ staff to further advocate for our legislative agenda. We emphasized the importance of continued investment in economic development, workforce training, and regional infrastructure that supports long-term growth.

In the afternoon, the group enjoyed a guided tour of the U.S. Capitol, offering a deeper appreciation of our nation’s legislative history. The day concluded with a group dinner where participants were able to reflect on the day’s discussions and strengthen connections. Day Two started early in the morning with a trip back to the Hill for a constituent coffee with Senator Ted Budd. This informal setting provided another opportunity for meaningful dialogue about Alamance County’s needs and priorities.
We concluded our visited at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where we toured their offices and met with staff from the U.S. Chamber Foundation. These conversations centered around the broader business environment nationwide and how national policy can help chambers like ours support local growth and resilience. We also took a deeper dive into education and workforce development.
Looking ahead, the Alamance Chamber Washington Fly-In is an important part of our ongoing advocacy work. By bringing our local voice to the federal level, we ensure that Alamance County’s businesses and residents are represented in conversations that shape the policies for our future.
We are grateful to our investors and partners who joined us for this year’s trip and to the elected officials and staff who welcomed us in Washington. Together, we are building stronger connections and working to secure a thriving future for Alamance County.
