Support of existing companies in Alamance County is a key component of the economic development activities of the Chamber. One of the biggest components to a company’s success is the quality of their workforce. Alamance County has multiple resources to assist with your workforce training needs.
As a longstanding organization dedicated to business excellence in Alamance County, the Chamber has the privilege of having many existing partnerships that serve workforce and talent development needs. These partnerships include the Alamance-Burlington School System, our private and charter school partners, Elon University, and Alamance Community College. In addition to the education partners, the Chamber also partners with North Carolina Works and the Piedmont Triad Regional Council (who currently serves as our council of government).
The largest and most recognized resource available is the North Carolina Customized Training Program. North Carolina was the first in the nation to develop training programs as part of the state’s economic development recruitment efforts. Services are provided through the NC Community College System. The NC Works system of Career Centers throughout the state provides various services to industry. NC Works can assist local employers with finding the right employees; and taking it a step further, assisting to connect with training programs and funding if the candidate needs additional skills prior to employment. In addition, NC Works can assist in recruitment and candidate screening.
The Alamance Chamber is a continued partner and supporter of education, especially that of higher education. Through our Access Growth existing industry program we hope to provide opportunities to meet with leadership and partners at Elon University and Alamance Community College to better understand partnership opportunities and how these institutions are preparing our next generation of workforce.
Education and Workforce Council
The Chamber hosts a bi-monthly council for education and workforce development partners, in addition to key employers within the community. Interested members of this group should be investors in the Chamber. More information can be found here.
Industries interested in youth apprenticeships should learn more about the Career Accelerator Program, Alamance County’s youth apprenticeship consortium that supports over a dozen local industries connect with area students to achieve a skilled workforce pipeline.
