Meet Our 2025 Campus Alamance Interns

The Alamance Chamber is excited to host three Elon University Student Interns this summer through the Campus Alamance Program. Our interns, Juan, Nic and Timothy will be assisting with multiple projects over the summer and learning about business and economic development in Alamance County. If you see them at a Chamber meeting or event, be sure to introduce yourself!

We invite you to learn more about our interns below.

MEET JUAN

Juan Barbosa is a rising junior at Elon University, majoring in Political Science and Government, with minors in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) and Business. Originally from Bogota, Colombia, he moved to Alamance County two years ago to pursue his education. Since his arrival, Juan has been impressed by the vibrant business environment and opportunities in Alamance County. He is passionate about exploring the intersection of policy and business and contributing to the community through this internship. Juan has worked as an assistant for the Office of the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, gaining valuable insights into academic administration and leadership. In addition to his academic pursuits, Juan is actively involved in extracurricular activities. He volunteers with organizations like the Dream Center, participates in events organized by his Greek Organization, and teaches Spanish to Elon students and faculty after school hours. These experiences have helped him develop a strong sense of community service and leadership. Juan plans to attend law school after completing his Political Science major, with the goal of specializing in business or property law. Outside of academics, he enjoys sports, music, spending time with friends and family, and reading. One of his favorite activities in Alamance County is exploring the diverse array of restaurants, coffee shops, and unique experiences the area has to offer. Juan is excited about the learning opportunities ahead and looks forward to making a meaningful impact in Alamance County.

MEET NIC

Nic is a new intern working at the Alamance Chamber for the summer. A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, he is a rising senior at Elon University, majoring in Marketing with a minor in Leadership Studies, and will graduate in May of 2026. Nic was drawn to the Chamber because of his deep-rooted passion for community engagement and his love of connecting with people. As someone who values relationship-building, Nic is especially excited about the opportunity to meet new people and contribute meaningfully to the community of Alamance County through his internship. Since his youth, Nic has spent a considerable amount of time in Alamance County, especially through his involvement in Scouting (BSA). This sparked a love for the Alamance Community and a desire to give back. Upon Graduating, Nic hopes to either go to Law school or enter the world of business using the knowledge gained through his time at the Chamber. Beyond the professional setting, Nic enjoys spending time outdoors, staying active, and being with friends. His favorite place in Alamance County is downtown Mebane, where he enjoys exploring the walking paths and local shops. Nic is enthusiastic about making a positive impact during his time at the Chamber and looks forward to a summer filled with growth, learning, and new relationships.
