The IEDC Proudly Awards Kevin Szostak the Certified Economic Developer Designation
The Alamance Chamber is proud to announce that Kevin Szostak, Economic Development Director, has earned the nationally recognized Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). This accomplishment recognizes Kevin’s expertise in economic development and his continued commitment to professional growth and community impact. The CEcD designation is a prestigious credential within the economic development profession, recognizing individuals who demonstrate a high level of knowledge, skill, and judgment in their field. To earn the designation, candidates must successfully complete a rigorous, two-day examination covering key areas of economic development, including business retention and expansion, business recruitment, workforce development, strategic planning, entrepreneurship, and real estate development.
Certified Economic Developers play an important role in strengthening communities by collaborating with business leaders, public officials, workforce partners, and other stakeholders to create opportunities for sustainable economic growth. “I’m delighted to be recognized for my work in economic development and in my continued pursuit of providing quality service to my community and its citizens,” Kevin said. He also expressed gratitude for the support of those who have contributed to his professional growth, including his wife, Abigail, and Alamance Chamber President & CEO Reagan C. Gural.
Kevin joined the Alamance Chamber after five years supporting business and community engagement initiatives in South Carolina. Since 2022, he has worked to advance economic development throughout Alamance County by supporting the needs of existing industries, engaging with workforce development partners, and leading business recruitment efforts for the county and its municipalities. In addition to his work with the Chamber, Kevin serves on the Business Engagement Committee and Executive Committee for the Piedmont Triad Regional Workforce Development Board. He is a graduate of Wofford College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Economics, and has also completed the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute program.
With this accomplishment, Kevin joins a network of more than 1,200 active Certified Economic Developers worldwide. His achievement reflects a continued commitment to strengthening the local economy, supporting business success, and creating opportunities that benefit Alamance County and its residents.
The Alamance Chamber congratulates Kevin on this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to the continued impact of his leadership and expertise in our community.
