Sunlight Batteries USA is a subsidiary of the Sunlight Group, a world-leading technology company headquartered in Athens, Greece. Sunlight develops innovative energy storage solutions focusing on developing and producing lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries for industrial applications. Sunlight Batteries operates a production facility in Greensboro with the forthcoming facility in Mebane to manufacture and assemble lithium-ion batteries using robot-assisted systems, along with product storage and distribution space.

The company intends to locate in the North Carolina Commerce Park (NCCP), a coalition between Alamance County, the City of Graham, and the City of Mebane. This facility will serve as a battery assembly and distribution plant for the company’s operations, as well as their North American headquarters.

“We welcome Sunlight Batteries to Alamance County and look forward to their great success” says Reed LaPlante, 2022 Board Chair for the Alamance Chamber. “Their anticipated purchase of a building in NCCP reinforces the company’s desire to grow and prosper within our community. The strength of our region’s business climate is heightened by Sunlight’s continued growth in North Carolina, and we couldn’t be happier.”

“This success would not have been possible without the support and partnership from our local partners” Reagan C Gural, President & CEO of the Alamance Chamber, shares. “This project exemplifies why it is so important to encourage collaboration and strategy among local and regional stakeholders.”

Dr. Algie Gatewood, President at Alamance Community College shared that “Alamance Community College is excited to welcome Sunlight Batteries USA to Alamance County. Alamance Community College is committed to supporting local business and industry partners, such as Sunlight Batteries, through collaborative training and partnerships to ensure continual access to a talented and qualified workforce.”

In addition to the NCCP Coalition, Alamance Chamber, Alamance Chamber Economic Development Foundation, and Alamance Community College, other key partners on this project include the North Carolina General Assembly, North Carolina Department of Commerce, and Economic Development Partnership of NC.
