Steri-Tek To Locate in Burlington, Alamance County

$71 Million Investment to Create 50 Jobs

Steri-Tek, an X-ray and E-Beam sterilization service for the medical device and life science clusters, will invest $71 million to establish its North Carolina operations into a new Alamance County facility. The company plans to create more than 50 jobs over the next five years.

The average salary will be $56,800 – above the current average wage in Alamance County of $46,999. The state and local areas will see an additional impact of more than $8.5 million each year from the new payroll.

Steri-Tek is a high-volume E-beam/X-ray contract sterilizer and R&D innovation center that provides on-demand sterilization, microbiology, cross-linking, and consultative services to the medical device, biotech, pharmaceutical, tissue product, and other industries. Steri-Tek has developed a proprietary system for optimizing E-beam/X-Ray sterilization of drugs/biologics, allograft/xenograft tissue product, combination devices and other complex products. Based in Fremont, CA, the company is celebrating its Dallas facility in 2022, and the Burlington location will be the company’s first on the East Coast.

The company intends to purchase over 80 acres in the City of Burlington, constructing their own 120,000 sf facility on 13 acres and developing a life sciences industrial park on the remaining land.

In addition to the City of Burlington, Alamance Chamber, Alamance County Economic Development Foundation, and Alamance Community College, other key partners on this project include the North Carolina General Assembly, North Carolina Department of Commerce, and Economic Development Partnership of NC.
