Meet Our 2026 Elon University Campus Alamance Interns

The Alamance Chamber is excited to host three Elon University Student Interns this summer through the Campus Alamance Program. Our interns, Valeria, Yashica, and Cayce will be assisting with multiple projects over the summer and learning about business and economic development in Alamance County. If you see them at a Chamber meeting or event, be sure to introduce yourself!

We invite you to learn more about our interns below.

MEET VALERIA

Valeria Negrete is a rising sophomore at Elon University, where she is double majoring in Project Management and Finance. Originally from Aiken, South Carolina, she enjoys crocheting, playing soccer, and exploring new cafés and specialty drinks in her free time. A former high school soccer player, Valeria especially enjoys training with friends and staying active in the sport. Valeria was drawn to the Alamance Chamber internship because of its focus on economic development and community growth. Growing up in a small town, she witnessed firsthand how new businesses can enhance quality of life, create opportunities, and strengthen local communities. As a new resident of Alamance County, she is excited to gain hands-on experience learning how economic development supports thriving communities through business growth, workforce development, and increased opportunities. Through this internship, Valeria hopes to learn more about the impact of small businesses and experience milestone events such as ribbon cuttings, which she sees as meaningful opportunities to celebrate entrepreneurs and strengthen community connections. She is also focused on developing her professional communication skills and building confidence while networking with business leaders. After graduation, Valeria aspires to become a management consultant, using her strengths in planning and strategy to help organizations succeed. Long term, she hopes to pursue her entrepreneurial dream of opening a coffee shop, making this internship an especially valuable opportunity to learn from local business owners and gain insight into the small business community.

She is majoring in Public Health with minors in Health Communications, Policy Studies, and Leadership Studies. During her time at Elon, Cayce has worked with the Center for Leadership in partnership with the Alamance Chamber through the Alamance Youth Leadership Academy (AYLA) program. Seeing the impact of AYLA and learning about the Chamber’s broader work in the community inspired her to apply for the internship. She is excited to gain a deeper understanding of the Chamber’s role in supporting local businesses and strengthening Alamance County. Throughout the internship, Cayce hopes to expand her knowledge of the Chamber and the local community while developing skills in networking, investor relations, business advocacy, and business development. She looks forward to learning from business and community leaders across the county. After graduation, Cayce plans to either attend law school or pursue a career in the public health field.
