Exporting Update

  • News

Did you know the Alamance Chamber certifies documents for international trade verifying that goods in our members’ export shipments were produced or processed in our country? Certificates of Origin, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists and Certificates of Free Sale are among the documents we process on a regular basis. Chambers of Commerce are recognized worldwide as the official body to issue, sign and stamp Certificates of Origin. Why? Because of the widespread network of the chamber of commerce around the world and its respected reputation of serving the business community. This came under the provisions of the International Convention relating to the Simplification of Customs Formalities head in Geneva in 1923. Under those provisions, national governments were allowed to delegate the administration of the certification scheme to suitable organizations, namely Chambers of Commerce.

Exporters and freight forwarders now have a seamless and streamlined electronic solution for export document processing called eCertify. The Alamance Chamber has partnered with Carolina Chamber Export Assistance Center to bring eCertify to Alamance County businesses. eCertify is recognized for critical document certification around the world, and is used by over thirty of the largest and most innovative Chambers in the U.S. Exporters who switch to electronic document processing enjoy many benefits including:

  • Saving time and money – no more couriers
  • Faster document certification turnaround times
  • User-friendly online web solution – process from anywhere & any device
  • Increased compliance and record keeping
