On Friday, March 27, 2026, the Alamance Chamber proudly hosted the 10th Annual ROAR Women’s Symposium at the Alliance Convention Center in Burlington, marking a milestone year for one of the Alamance Chamber’s signature events. Presented by LeAndra “Nikki” Ratliff, this year’s symposium welcomed 550 attendees, 40 vendors, and a record number of sponsors, reflecting the tremendous growth and continued momentum of ROAR since its inception in 2016 that began with 160 participants.
The 2026 theme was “belonging.” This theme was centered around the message of finding your place, owning your story and creating space for others, setting the tone set the tone for a day filled with meaningful conversations and powerful storytelling.
Belonging looks and feels different for everyone, and throughout the day, speakers explored what it means to find belonging within ourselves through self-acceptance, confidence, and authenticity; in our communities through friendships, neighborhoods, and shared purpose; at work and in leadership by using our voices and claiming space; and through our differences by honoring unique backgrounds and perspectives. This year’s speakers brought the theme of belonging to life through personal stories of growth, transition, and resilience.
The event opened with a message of reflection from Chamber President & CEO Reagan C. Gural, who highlighted the journey of ROAR over the past decade and the community that has helped it flourish. Building on the reflection and celebration, the program featured a series of inspiring talks, conversation and a powerful keynote.
Program Highlights:
- ROAR Talk: “Part of Your World” by Tami Kress, Executive Director of Studio 1
- Fireside Chat: “Making Space: Showing Up To Belong” with Tracey Grayzer (Impact Alamance) and Kathy Hykes, sponsored by Triad Grading & Paving
- Fireside Chat: “Legacy in Motion” with Jean Rattigan Rohr and Kimberly Romero, sponsored by Elon University
- ROAR Talk: “Time, Memories & Grace” by Robyn Hadley, sponsored by The Vernon Law Firm
- Poetry Reflection: “When I Was a Little Girl” by Mtende Roll
Attendees also enjoyed lunch provided by Pepper Moon Catering before hearing from keynote speaker Lisa Sun, Founder & CEO of Gravitas and author of Gravitas. Her keynote, “Choosing Self Confidence & Finding Your Superpower,” inspired attendees to embrace authenticity and step fully into their potential.
Another highlight of the symposium was the “Sock Market,” presented by the Burlington Sock Puppets which featured 40 businesses and nonprofits. This vibrant vendor marketplace provides access to shopping, product showcases, and valuable community resources. The day concluded with a Sip & Social, sponsored by TAPCO, with beverages provided by Tanner’s Wine Bar. Attendees had the opportunity to connect with speakers, including a book signing with Lisa Sun, facilitated by Persnickety Books in Burlington.
This milestone event would not have been possible without the dedication of the 2026 Planning Committee, led by Chair Allison Gant. As shared in the event program, Allison reflected, “Over the past decade, we’ve built a vibrant community rooted in connection, resilience, and purpose – sparking meaningful conversations and inspiring action across generations and industries. This milestone reflects the collective energy of every speaker, attendee, and supporter who has helped shape ROAR into more than an event…”
The Alamance Chamber extends thanks and appreciation to the entire planning committee, our volunteers, and the many sponsors who made this event possible.
